VT (and many other schools) have some sort of disability accommodations.
My kiddo (not at VT) didn't have anything formal in High School but has a plan and a few accommodations now in college. I'm sure it varies widely but the few VT public colleges I've come across do a very good job to make reasonable accommodations.

In my daughters case, it had no impact whatsoever on admissions. I'm pretty darn sure it never come up during admissions - which was focused on grades, test scores, etc. Once she was accepted then we worked with school's disability office to get a tailored plan for her. To me admissions and accommodations afterwards were two separate things.

For you, I'd worry less about admission and more about the disability office of the college. It you don't get the warm-fuzzy that the disability office does much for new college students then they probably don't.

It is critical to research disability offices early on to know which schools might be a good environments for you kid and which ones might not be.
